Definition of Type

Type is a classification method for an option as either a call or a put.

Applying "Type" to Securities Exams:

All options are broken down by type as either calls or puts. All calls are one type of option and all puts are another type of option. Calls give the holder the right to purchase the underlying security and puts give the holder the right to sell the underlying security.
