Definition of Visible Supply

Visable supply is the total par value of all new issue municipal bonds coming to market in the next 30 days.

Applying "Visible Supply" to Securities Exams:

Broker dealers who would like to bid on new issues of municipal securities will turn to the Daily Bond Buyer to review such things a the notice of sale for new municipal issues and the amount of all new municipal issues coming to market in the next 30 days, the visible supply. A higher amount of par value being offered for sale will tend to drive yields higher.
